Team Info

A crew of 20 paddlers, a steersperson (which is provided by the Festival) and drummer, race over a 500-metre race course. All racing is recreational, not requiring anyone to be an experienced dragon boat races. Over the one day of the Festival each team will have 2 timed heats (weather permitting). Practices will be held prior to the festival weekend. A dragon boat team (crew) consists of 25 members (20 paddlers, 1 drummer, 1 steerperson, provided by the Festival, and 3 trained alternates).

Dragon Boat racing is an extremely user friendly sport and anyone, young or old, at any fitness level can quickly adapt to, and develop a passion for the sport. Technique and synchronicity are the key elements to a successful dragon boat team.
