Team Info

A crew of 20 paddlers, a steersperson (which is provided by the Festival) and drummer, race over a 500-meter race course. Categories include Mixed, Men and Women. All racing is recreational, not requiring anyone to be an experienced dragon boat races. Over the day of the Festival each team will have 2 timed heats (weather permitting). Practices will be held prior to the festival weekend. A dragon boat team (crew) consists of 25 members (20 paddlers, 1 drummer, 1 steerperson, provided by the Festival, and 3 trained alternates).

Dragon Boat racing is an extremely user friendly sport and anyone, young or old, at any fitness level can quickly adapt to, and develop a passion for the sport. Technique and synchronicity are the key elements to a successful dragon boat team.
