Team Info

A crew of 20 paddlers, a steersperson and drummer, race over a 500-metre race course. Over the Festival weekend, each team will have 3 timed heats and an optional 250m sprint (weather permitting). Practices will be held prior to the Festival weekend; teams are required to attend 3 practices. A dragon boat team (crew) consists of 25 members (20 paddlers, 1 drummer, 1 steerperson, and 3 trained alternates).

Dragon Boat racing is an extremely user friendly sport and anyone, young or old, at any fitness level can quickly adapt to, and develop a passion for the sport. Technique and synchronicity are the key elements to a successful dragon boat team.
